Our preferred motor for the MacGregor is the Evinrude Etec 60HP, however, it can be substituted
with any four stroke. To starboard you can see the boarding ladder.
Here
is a view of the Bimini. If you look closely you can see the viewing window
behind the centre crossbar. Attached with velcro this allows you to open up
the window to view the wind vane or mainsail. It has been designed with no
support straps to get in the way when going forward or boarding. It can be
used when sailing, can be removed altogether or folded back into a targa position.
Here is the very spacious cockpit. Cockpit cushions make it very comfortable
and make a great day bed for sun baking or sitting back reading a good book.
The cockpit table makes eating lunch or enjoying sundowners a breeze.
The
cockpit table can be folded down when not being used. It can be removed and
stored below. The handle is great for moving around the cockpit safely.
This
is the view from the helm seat. Note the conceled forward
controls for the outboard motor, gauges- RPMs and tilt/trim. The Garmin 451S
GPS/Chartplotter/Depthsounder/Fish Finder has Australian base maps pre loaded.
This is our new companionway spray dodger. It protects the companionway and cabin from spray, rain and wind. It also stops the sun shining into the cabin, keeping it cooler. It folds forward when not needed or for trailering. It has an opening window in the front to let through a breeze through.
One
of the more popular options for the Macgregor 26M are the stern rail seats.
These are standard on the Whitsunday Package and really add space to the cockpit by
adding an extra 2 seats.
The trailer is modified to meet the Australian Design Regulations including replacing the coupling and rewiring using LED lights.
A
23 litre fuel tank sits under the cockpit seat. It is strapped down and can
be placed side ways allowing a second 23 litre fuel tank next to it.On the
opposite side of the cockpit another 2 fuel tanks can be installed
The
interior of the Macgregor 26 is very large. A dining table to starboard.
The
table drops down to make a large single berth. The filler cushion is used
here. Under the dining table are the 6" cabin stereo speakers.
Just
forward behind the mirror is the head. A sliding galley to port, 1/4 berth
just forward of the galley. A V-berth is at the bow.
Looking
aft is the queen size rear berth behind the companion way stairs.
An
ice chest sits behind the dining table in a small cut out section in the rear
berth mattress.
Dual
batteries power the electronics. These are charged by the motor. The first
battery is the standard factory battery, the second a 75 amp hour sealed (no
maintenance) lead acid.
A
self contained porta potti is mounted with brackets in the head.
The
quick release steering connection bar is a big improvement on the factory
bar. It will quickly disconnect the motor from the steering and place it in
the locked position. In this position the motor can still be raised and lowered.
A
cross over switch isolates each battery to reduce the chance of flat batteries.
Both can be linked to be charged.
The 12 volt fuse panel controls and protects the electronics. A 12 volt socket
is installed here to charge mobile phones etc.
Sound is from a FUSION marine stereo/CD player. There are cabin and cockpit
marine speakers and an iPod docking station is also available.
Music can be enjoyed outside the cabin through the cockpit speakers. A wired remote control allows you to control the stereo from the cockpit.
The mainsail halyard can be raised and lowered from the cockpit. 2 sets of double blocks, two clutches and a lengthened halyard is included.
